Description:
Soul Structure is a quaint little emo band out of Nottingham, UK that sort of reminds you of what Snowing might be doing if they didn't stop doing what they were doing.  Sometimes you get that End of a Year / Self Defense Family vibe as well.  I guess that's accurate enough.  I don't need to please you people!  I have yet to check out their first release, but after listening to True Love it's almost a guarantee that I'm going to dig it.  More or less of the same stuff you would expect from a band of this genre, but I think the appeal is the sort of anthem moments in certain songs and the way the vocals completely separate themselves from the instrumentation.  One of the few emo bands that actually wants us to hear the words and brings top notch production along with it.  Check it out, let me know what you think.

First of let me start by saying that the vinyl record for Party On has one of the coolest designs I have ever seen.  I absolutely fucking love it.  As for the record itself? It's awesome.  Big Awesome is the truest form of emo revival and at it's best for sure.  Party On is extremely guitar driven, and favors instrumentation in general but the vocals are really just an added bonus.  Lot's of super funky basslines and dope melodic hooks really drew me in.  Overall, Party On is a super catchy album that deserves your attention.

Description:
Frameworks are a post-hardcore / melodic hardcore band out of Gainesville, Florida.  Personally, I haven't listened to these guys except for their LP, Loom, but I enjoyed it so much that I figured the least I could do for everyone else is upload their latest 2 song EP, Time Spent.  Frameworks utilizes and incorporates a lot of intricate instrumentation that differentiates them from their contemporaries.  The recordings are very clean and polished and make for some excellent post-hardcore that really lets the vocalist shine.  Honestly, if you liked them before you're going to like them now.  That's how I see it.  I'm digging these 2 songs, and I can't wait for the LP.

Pictures of Vernon are an emo band coming out of Greensboro, North Carolina.  They cite influences from bands like Algernon Cadwallader, Tiny Moving Parts, Brave Bird, and The Hotelier to give you an idea of what they are going for.  I've played both of their releases back to back for the past 45 minutes, and these guys might be the band I have been looking for to takeover my love for Grown Ups.  These guys are so ridiculously good that it hurts I haven't listened to them already.  I can't wait for new music from them, it's some of the best emo I've ever heard.  Pictures of Vernon are, to the core, real life twinkle daddies.  Get on this and you will not be disappointed.

No boundaries are being pushed while listening to Keeler.  The bad part about this style of music is that sometimes you sound like you're trying to be a more popular band in the same genre, but I'm okay with that.  Keeler isn't a band that I'm going to intentionally put on when I can listen to other contemporaries like Grown Ups or Snowing.  But they don't leave much to be desired, they do what they want and they do it fairly well.  I enjoyed every song on the album, and if it ends up coming through my headphones than I can honestly say I won't hit the 'next' button.  If you're like me and you listen to Snowing and Grown Ups all the time and want to switch it up but not too much, then give Keeler a listen.  It couldn't hurt giving them a try.

Archie Alone - Split 7" (2016)

I don't normally like posting Split EP's, especially when they don't come with the other half.  But, hey, I'm in a pretty good mood and I really enjoy this band I just happened to come across, Archie Alone.  Now before I go into a little more detail I want to mention that they have a four song EP or Demo on their bandcamp as well, so I would advise giving that a listen as well.  If you are anything like me 2 songs just can't get you into a band, I need a little more time to be exposed to a new sound and see if I like it and dammit, I like these guys.  The main reason you need to download the first release is because you get that post-hardcore and emo vibe a lot more than the split.  It's a lot more raw and really takes you into the mind of the person writing the lyrics, but when you get to the split you get this polished pop punk sound while still holding on to the emo roots that had been previously planted.  I, personally, got a Brand New mixed with Bayside mixed with that Storm the Beaches band I posted previously.  If I was recommending you stuff based on specific bands though, I'd say Brand New, Saves the Day, and maybe The Movielife.  So if you don't like one genre, or two genres, or any of the ones posted above, you will surely find SOMETHING you are looking for by listening to Archie Alone.  I'll upload their EP as well, if you're too damn lazy to click on their bandcamp link above.

What a tragically amazing EP, and I say that because I feel like (myself included) that this band did not get the recognition that they deserved.  Shit, before someone posted about them and someone generously provided this EP (thanks to both of you!) I had no idea who these guys were.  "Suspension of Disbelief" is so ahead of it's time, combining emo and post-hardcore jawnz into something truly amazing.  I think they all play in a new band that actually has a fan base, but I don't know what it is and I don't feel like looking into it right now.  Check them out, and have fun listening to what could have been.  I wish I could get my hands on a 320kbps release, but it's really not noticeable at 128 or whatever it is.  Also, look at that terrible album artwork, wow.

Student Affairs is a band coming out of Allentown, PA that plays a Midwestern Emo / Screamo type of music in the vein of Merchant Ships.  Very playful half of the time, while the other half is filled with angst ridden instrumentation and vocals.  The lyrics are very relate-able and I found myself enjoying their spoken word tracks more than anything based purely off of the subtle instrumentals and compelling lyrics that are about every day life.  Whoever posted the link to their bandcamp in the chat box, thanks for the recommendation to check these guys out.  I was not disappointed at all.

Looking around at a lot of other people who have uploaded this album or have reviewed this album it seems that the general consensus is that this isn't that great of an album.  I disagree.  Is it the same Envy that most listeners of the genre grew up on? No, of course not.  Does that make it a bad album or an album that deserves unfavorable reviews? Maybe, that's up to the opinion of the listener but my personal experience is that this is an entrancing screamo album and that blends post-rock into an almost melodic masterpiece.  I love every song on this album, and no amount of 4,5, or 6 out of 10 reviews are going to change my mind.  Download it and give it a listen, don't ignore "Atheist's Cornea" because the reviews make it sound like something you should pass on when I personally believe this is a must have for fans of Envy and fans for the progression of screamo.

I honestly don't give a shit if you think these guys are corny, this is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard.  Listening to Downtown Battle Mountain isn't even a guilty pleasure for me, but if I happen to stumble onto some of their later work then I have no excuse for my poor taste in music and I might apologize.  This album has the greatest blend of Post-Hardcore, Screamo, and Emo all in one.  You get the noodley guitar riffs with a sort of Math Rock vibe to it in spots, then it transitions into the chilling undertones of the bass accompanied by the eerie vocals performed by Jonny Craig.  So I posted this up because it's constantly in rotation for me, and maybe some of you guys will dig it too if you somehow haven't listened to it in it's entirety.

Ya know, the basis of this whole blog has been to promote good music to the masses and I think we have somewhat strayed from that idea, by just posting bands that are already fairly big.  Well, in actuality, we strayed from posting on this blog in general but whatever!  Zoo Books is one of those bands that we don't really know that much about (at least I don't).  Saying that, I am hoping for new material from these guys every day.  I picked up this little gem strolling the interwebs, and god dammit am I glad I downloaded this stuff from their bandcamp.  I prefer the scratchy feel of the demos, but the production and sheer brilliance of Right Hooks will surely lure any fan of the post-hardcore scene in and will keep a death grip on them until they die a horrible mathy asphyxiated death.  Noodley riffs, dont forget those, because they have them as well.  Seriously though, check these guys out and support them to the fullest extent, I want a full length from these guys as soon as possible.  Enjoy.

P.S. There was a killer riff in Djangle Unchained around the 25 second mark, that made me think my laptop was about to start dumping physical memory to my fucking hard drive again.  God damn you blue screen, god damn you indeed.
