Neck Deep - Serpents EP (2016)
Genre: Pop Punk
Website: Homepage
For Fans Of: The Story So Far, Knuckle Puck, Real Friends
Track List:
- Serpents (Mark Hoppus Remix)
- Serpents
- Can't Kick Up the Roots (Mark Hoppus Remix)
- Can't Kick Up the Roots
Description:
Neck Deep is a pop punk band formed in April 2012 based in Wrexham, Wales, UK. These guys haven't been around for too long but they have put out a decent amount of material, and all of it is surprisingly dope. This EP is just 2 songs with 2 remixes by Mark Hoppus, but hey, if you're a fan of Neck Deep or, well, Mark Hoppus, then I guess you should give this a listen! Enjoy!

Movements - Outgrown Things EP (2016)
Genre: Post-Hardcore / Emo / Pop Punk
Website: Homepage
For Fans Of: Seahaven, Balance and Composure, Daylight
Track List:
- Kept
- Nineteen
- Worst Wishes
- Hatchet
- Vacant Home
- Losing Fight
Description:
Hey alright, so as you can see I'm taking it a little bit slower now and apart from me posting random shit that I enjoy, 99% of the time I will only be posting new releases and certain requests. Anyway, Movements is a super catchy post-hardcore band from California, USA that tour with bands like Balance and Composure all the time. So if you are into this kind of stuff, then I suggest trying to go to one of their live shows because they are probably bomb as fuck.

Turnover - Humblest Pleasures EP (2016)
Genre: Pop Punk / Emo
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Citizen, Title Fight, Knuckle Puck
Track List:
- Humblest Pleasures
- Change Irreversible
Description:
I'll be real here for a second and totally admit that I never listened to these guys before and just kind of downloaded this on a whim. Most websites classify them as pop punk and I'm sure their previous releases have reflected that and I'm going to even assume they resembled The Story So Far and Title Fight. More so Title Fight because TF has experimented and changed their sound from typical pop punk to a more emo vibe and Humblest Pleasures is eerily similar to that. Maybe I'm wrong though, I'll have to check out their other releases. Either way, these are two really chill songs and I suggest checking them out.

Business Models - Room (2013)
Genre: Pop Punk / Emo / Punk
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Halfway to Holland, Spraynard, Joyce Manor
Track List:
- I Have To Change It
- The Aptitude
- I'll Have What I'm Having
- When You Walked Off
- Companion Piece
- Searching For The Perfect Place
- And Then It Was Now
- Learn A Thing
- Spinnaker
- Shadow Shade
- Clear And Cold
- Very Much Alive
Description:
Since I posted the predecessor to Algernon Cadwallader with Halfway to Holland, I think I should post the band that succeeded them, Business Models. Business Models is made up of members from two of some of my favorite bands around, one obviously being Algernon Cadwallader and the other being the lesser known Ape Up! It's also made up from members of Man Without Plan, but I've honestly never given them (or him?) a listen but I might have to if a member is included in this dope lineup. So if you are interested in hearing what Halfway to Holland might have become over the years, give this a listen.

- Leave The Claustrophobia To The Claustrophobians (Demo)
Description:
Halfway to Holland is the pop punk band that eventually became Algernon Cadwallader, so if you like Algernon you will probably fuck with this heavy. For some reason it became increasingly difficult to find the discography, since every god damn link was dead except one. But 85mb for some people can be a pain in the ass, and I think a lot of people have the S/T release more than anything so I decided to split it up by release. I don't know the actual dates for the compilation and unreleased tracks, but they were released with the discography so I assume 2006 would be correct. Either way, Halfway to Holland was super chill and you should check them out if you haven't already. For the rest of you that forgot to put them in your itunes or whatever you use? Shame on you, get some nostalgia in your life.

Knuckle Puck - Copacetic (2015)
Genre: Pop Punk
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Neck Deep, Real Friends, The Story So Far
Track List:
- Wall to Wall (Depreciation)
- Disdain
- Poison Pen Letter
- Swing
- Ponder
- Evergreen (feat. Dan Lambton)
- True Contrite
- Stationary
- In Your Crosshairs
- Pretense
- Untitled
Description:
Knuckle Puck is a pop punk band from Chicago, Illinois that formed in 2011. Not bringing anything new or special to the genre, but staying true to it is what really has me enjoying their debut LP, Copacetic. I think at this point it's going to be pretty hard to reinvent Pop Punk without sounding like All Time Low, and none of us want that. But what Knuckle Puck lacks in originality they thrive in upbeat, emotionally fueled songs that epitomize jamming out in the summer with your bros. Check 'em out, and support them if you like what they have to offer.

Somos - First Day Back (2016)
Genre: Emo / Pop Punk / Alternative
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Sorority Noise, Free Throw, Moose Blood
Track List:
- Slow Walk to the Graveyard Shift
- Violent Decline
- Thorn in the Side
- Problem Child
- Reminded/Weighed Down
- Days Here Are Long
- Room Full of People
- You Won't Stay
- Alright, I'll Wait
- Bitter Medicine
- Lifted from the Current
Description:
Somos is an alternative pop punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. First Day Back is their sophomore album, and most certainly in the running for album of the year already. Meshing together a 90s emo revival vibe and the instrumentation of waning guitars really draws out the pop punk-esque tunes that were more familiar in the debut album. They've also done splits with other contemporaries such as Sorority Noise and Have Mercy, so you should check those out as well if you dig this. Enjoy!

- College Radio
- In Jeans
- Estate Sale
- Friends In Theory
- Never On Time
- Atlantic Grandeur
- 21 Reruns
- Ambiguous Seasons
- Song 1
Description:
Tommy Boys is a mathy emo band with a nice pop punk vibe to them coming out of good old San Francisco, California. You know what they sound like? They sound like if American Football and Grown Ups combined their instrumentation and then put the lead singer from Transit on vocals. Does that not sound fucking amazing? Because it is, it really is. Those mathy guitar riffs man, I'm such a sucker for shit like that and these guys nailed it so perfectly. I hope they get way more recognition because they truly deserve it. Give these dudes a listen and let me know what you think!

Archie Alone - Split 7" (2016)
Genre: Emo / Pop Punk / Post-Hardcore
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Brand New, Saves the Day, The Movielife
Track List:
- Broken
- Mend
Description:
I don't normally like posting Split EP's, especially when they don't come with the other half. But, hey, I'm in a pretty good mood and I really enjoy this band I just happened to come across, Archie Alone. Now before I go into a little more detail I want to mention that they have a four song EP or Demo on their bandcamp as well, so I would advise giving that a listen as well. If you are anything like me 2 songs just can't get you into a band, I need a little more time to be exposed to a new sound and see if I like it and dammit, I like these guys. The main reason you need to download the first release is because you get that post-hardcore and emo vibe a lot more than the split. It's a lot more raw and really takes you into the mind of the person writing the lyrics, but when you get to the split you get this polished pop punk sound while still holding on to the emo roots that had been previously planted. I, personally, got a Brand New mixed with Bayside mixed with that Storm the Beaches band I posted previously. If I was recommending you stuff based on specific bands though, I'd say Brand New, Saves the Day, and maybe The Movielife. So if you don't like one genre, or two genres, or any of the ones posted above, you will surely find SOMETHING you are looking for by listening to Archie Alone. I'll upload their EP as well, if you're too damn lazy to click on their bandcamp link above.

Caleb Lionheart - Think Hardcore. Play Pop Punk EP (2008)
Genre: Pop Punk / Melodic Hardcore
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Bangarang, After the Fall, Anchors
Track List:
- Home
- Vultures
- Keep Time, Lose Track
- Rules Of Attraction
- The Circus We´ve Become
Description:
Caleb Lionheart started as a New Years Resolution in 2007 by two friends and a guitar. Three years later it has blossomed into four best friends, three EPs, four East Coast tours, two vans, three former drummers, and a broken nose. Sometimes, everyone gets together, writes punk songs and plays them as fast they can. Sometimes, two or three members write acoustic songs and sing them at the top of their lungs. Sometimes, people sing along. You should too. Just for good measure, I'm going to throw in their other EP, because why not.

The Color Earth EP (2011)
- When I Was Young
- She Said
- Just the Way It Is
- Gifts From Sea
Description:
I've said this in conversations multiple times, yes, there are better pop punk bands than Storm the Beaches. I am not debating the fact that they are super original or revolutionary, but what I will say is that the lead singer, Mark Mikina, has the greatest voice in Pop Punk I have ever heard. Imagine Anthony Green in a more poppy version of early Chiodos and you have Storm the Beaches. Check em out, and you will know exactly what I am talking about.

- (S)he Said
- Brian's Song
- Flannel
- Exit 47A
- Cardigan
- Your Dad is Kirk Hammet?
- A Year From Now
- Nickels
- I Swear I’m Usually Pretty Good at This
- Remnants
Description:
Here's another album that gives the listener a lot to take in at once. A variety of different genres pushed together in one album, but none of it feels forced. For some reason I get the vibe that they might push more toward a Wonder Years style in the future, and this debut album might end up being their opus. Twinkly midwestern emo that comes fully equipped with rad riffs and enticing vocals, paired with words that actually make sense and draw you in even more. Their self-titled album sounds like it could have been a Grown Ups side project with members that wanted a more poppy influence, while still incorporating that math rock style in the instrumentation. Anyway, check 'em and enjoy.

Kings At Heart - Sunrise EP (2016)
Genre: Melodic Hardcore / Pop Punk
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Stick To Your Guns, Four Year Strong, Counterparts
Track List:
- Youth
- Fall
- Numb
- Bloom
Description:
Yeah so Kings At Heart are a "Melodic Hardcore" band from Australia, the only problem with that is that I really don't consider them a Melodic Hardcore band as much as they are a Pop Punk band with more Punk influences than Pop. Granted, I haven't listened to their earlier releases and maybe they transitioned quite a bit into a more relaxed poppy style of music. Now that's not to say I don't enjoy this band, I just don't enjoy the label that was put on their latest and very solid "Pop Punk" EP, "Sunrise". You see what I did there? Yeah. Check 'em out and see if you like them, and let me know if you think they are more of a melodic hardcore band or a pop punk band because it's really fucking confusing.

Ivy League TX - Ivy League TX EP (2016)
Genre: Pop Punk
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Such Gold, Four Year Strong, Set Your Goals
Track List:
- Daily Pt. III
- Four Years (Ft. Drew Fish)
- Cold Burn
Description:
These three songs very well may raise the bar on what it considered good, bad, and authentic pop punk. I listened to the first track, "Daily Pt. III" and immediately got a Four Year Strong vibe. Then "Four Years" came on and I thought to myself, "This is really reminiscent of Set Your Goals back when they were still acceptable to listen to". "Cold Burn" is the final track and it sounded like pure Ivy League and it was the defining moment that I knew I wasn't just a fan of the genre, I was a fan of Ivy League. Each song makes you just want to hit the repeat button so that you can chant along with these anthems. Just download this and give them a listen for yourself, and if you come back unsatisfied, well...then...I feel sorry for you.

Track List:
- Brother's Keeper
- Hanging Around
- Lose Your Grip
- Aquasun
- Submission
- Oversized
- Blinded Bye
- For You The Moon
- Promise Everything
- Halo
Description:
So, these guys are considered Melodic Hardcore? I really don't even know what that means. I'm showing you just how stupid I really am. Don't hold it against me, please? I haven't listened to any of their previous releases, but this album sounds like it could have been done by Jimmy Eat World. Maybe it's just me, but, I doubt it. Regardless, I am digging this and it's a change of pace from what I've been listening to for the past couple of weeks. It can get a little monotonous at times, but it never stays that way where you just scream at the top of your lungs, "When the fuck will this song end?!?!". They alternate nicely between the songs that are full blown lightning in a bottle to the pop punk version of a power ballad. Basements "Promise Everything" is a good way to start off 2016.

Four Year Strong - Go Down in History EP (2014)
Genre: Pop Punk
Website: Click
For Fans Of: The Wonder Years, Old NFG, Old SYG
Track List:
- What's in the Box?
- Living Proof of a Stubborn Youth
- Tread Lightly
- Go Down in History
- So You're Saying There's a Chance...
Description:
So this is Four Year Strong's newest EP, Go Down in History. As expected from these guys, every song is full of energy and pop punky goodness that really reminds you of all those good New Found Glory songs you use to love before they put out that Radioactive album or whatever it was called. With this band and the etched in stone style of pop punk they play, you can expect some repetition in these songs. It's not necessarily a bad thing though, if you enjoy this kind of music you can listen to these 5 songs all fucking day. I've sort of fallen off the pop punk hype train, I think the newest Wonder Years release derailed me from that style of music. I just couldn't get into The Wonder Years anymore, they fucking ruined it for me and I don't know why. I just really don't like them anymore. Anyway, these guys make listening to Pop Punk enjoyable, and the melodic hardcore undertones make it even more bearable than normal. No reason not to give this a listen and support these c00l d00dz.

- Fine, Great
- Broken Cash Machine
- Rock Bottom

- The Old Gospel Choir
- Notes
- Charlie Black
- Tommy Bowers
- Going to Bed Now
- Your Graduation
- Two Good Things
- Pothole
Description:
Yeah so I think I may be one of the few people in the world right now who never listened to Modern Baseball's debut album, Sports. Fuckin' sue me. It wasn't that I just pushed it aside and never gave it the time of day, I just happened to not be really involved in any kind of new music after 2010 until like 2-3 months ago. Even now it's hard to catch up on certain things and get back into the groove that we once had at this blog, but hey, we're trying! Anyway, this really reminds me of a more laid back and emo-influenced version of older Man Overboard which is why I named them as one of the 'For Fans Of'. Maybe it's just me but I just get a huge MO and Tigers Jaw vibe from these guys, as if they were meshed together in like 2009. I mean, the songs themselves sound like they could have been released yesterday or in 1991, which is rad on it's own. I can honestly say that I completely regret not having the option to hear these guys for the past couple of years because they are insanely good. This band is going to get big, I mean like, really big in the next 2-3 years. This album is so fucking catchy and radio friendly that this may be the band that puts better music on the map. Let's all hope these guys get far in the world of music, because I want to hear more and more.

Genre: Pop Punk
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Man Overboard, The Wonder Years, This Time Next Year
Track List:
- Anvil
- Sleep Deprived
- Highway Robbery
- Heart vs Head
- I Can Relate
- The Loved Ones Who Hate Us
- Queens
- Give and Take
- Waiting For Your Ghost
- New Years Resolution
Description:
Does anyone even really listen to pop punk anymore without accidentally stumbling into like All Time Low or new Taking Back Sunday type music? It seems like it happens every time I start a playlist. The first song will be Blink 182 or The Wonder Years or something in that range, then 3 or 4 songs down the line I'll be listening to fuckin' Mayday Parade. I mean, realistically there is almost no difference in any of these bands except the amount of "hardcore" or "punk" influences that are involved in them, right? I mean the vocals always sound virtually the same, but if they use some sort of melodic hardcore guitar riffs it all of a sudden becomes obscure and cool to listen to in your car without the windows rolled all the way up in 100 degree weather. Wait, what the fuck was I talking about? Anyway, I do like this release, even though I'm only like 3 songs deep right now. Worst comes to worst, the album is only like 25 minutes long, so no harm done right? Enjoy!
