Explosions in the Sky - The Wilderness (2016)

Genre: Post-Rock / Instrumental
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: This Will Destroy You, Caspian, Mogwai
Track List:
- Wilderness
- The Ecstatics
- Tangle Formations
- Logic of a Dream
- Disintegration Anxiety
- Losing the Light
- Infinite Orbit
- Colors in Space
- Landing Cliffs

Description:
Explosions in the Sky is a post-rock band from Texas that has been doing the damn thing since the late 90s.  The Wilderness I think is their first actual album since 2011 or 2012 that wasn't a soundtrack for a movie and that gets me pretty excited.  I'm not saying their OST work isn't good, because I'm sure it is.  I just don't listen to them, but I am a fan of The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place, so that's something right?  So if you are interested in post-rock instrumental songs then this is absolutely for you.  Take yourself on a musical journey, do yourself that favor.

Description:
Alright, so I noticed a lack of this band on a lot of other blogs that I frequent and for some reason getting a hold of their music is fairly difficult but I ended up getting my hands on all of their studio albums.  Hooray!  The bad part is it's a mixed batch on quality ranging from 320kbps to 160kbps but I'm honestly not sure if high quality releases of their earlier stuff even exists.  But if it does, I would be super stoked if someone sent it to me!  I'm also impartial to receiving any of their splits and EP's so send them my way if you have them.  Anyway, Karate was a super dope indie rock band that utilized a lot of blues and jazz influences in their songs that I think everyone needs to have and if you don't have them already you should be ashamed.  Oh, and a lot of the tracks aren't in the correct place so forgive me, but it's an easy enough fix.  Aaaaand some of the tracks aren't properly named, but dammit I'm sorry!  Enjoy guys!

Yndi Halda - Under Summer EP (2016)

Genre: Post-Rock
Website: Homepage
For Fans Of: Joy Wants Eternity, The Ascent of Everest, The Seven Mile Journey
Track List:
- Together Those Leaves
- Golden Threads from the Sun
- Helena
- This Very Flight

Description:
Yndi Halda is a post-rock band from Canterbury, England.  Their name, which in Old Norse means Enjoy Eternal Bliss, which I think perfectly describes listening to one of their EP's.  It's not necessarily something that I put on personally to examine all the in's and outs and try to figure out what I specifically like and what I dislike, hell it's not even to sit and sing along with the words.  This is something that I put on while I'm working, or anything really.  It's the perfect background music, it sounds like it's meant for you to listen to in that moment, at any moment.  But hey, that's just my opinion and it's how I choose to enjoy Yndi Halda.

Description:
How to count one to ten is a Post-Rock / Math Rock / Instrumental band performing out of Tokyo, Japan.  They said themselves that they perform their music with unwavering faith that creates inventive scales that leave listeners open to a universe of interpretations, and I'm inclined to believe them.  Lot's of different harmonies and sounds going on here, and it's very polished and perfected in the production.  They remind me a lot of earlier Toe, so if you can dig that than you can dig this.

Chinese Football - Chinese Football (2015)

Genre: Emo / Post-Rock / Math-Rock
Website: Bandcamp

Track List:
- 游戏开始 (Intro)
- 守门员
- 飞鱼转身
- 400米

- 游戏暂停 (Interlude)
- 地球上最后一个EMO男孩
- 红牌罚下
- 帽子戏法
- 再见米卢
- 盲人摸象
- 游戏结束 (Outro)

Description:
Obviously pulling influences from American Football, the counterpart from Wuhan, China, Chinese Football, is way more then a band that at first sight appears to be nothing more than an attempt to be a clone of American Football.  Fans of the 90s emo movement will fall in love before the intro track has completed, and will note the beautiful instrumentation and flawless production paired with some of the most beautiful vocals I've ever heard.  While you progress through the album you will start to understand why I love this album so much.  Dreamy midwestern-esque emo with lots of twists and turns into the eastern side of the genre.  The guitar pushes out some extremely peaceful melodies at times, and other times you can feel the sadness portrayed through the instruments.  This might be the dopest thing I have posted on this blog so far, please check it out and support these guys.

Envy - Atheist's Cornea (2015)

Genre: Screamo / Post-Hardcore / Post-Rock
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Heaven In Her Arms, Daitro, Funeral Diner
Track List:
- Blue Moonlight
- Ignorant Rain and the End of the World
- Shining Finger
- Ticking Time and String
- Footsteps in the Distance
- An Insignificant Poem
- Two Isolated Souls
- Your Heart and My Hand

Description:
Looking around at a lot of other people who have uploaded this album or have reviewed this album it seems that the general consensus is that this isn't that great of an album.  I disagree.  Is it the same Envy that most listeners of the genre grew up on? No, of course not.  Does that make it a bad album or an album that deserves unfavorable reviews? Maybe, that's up to the opinion of the listener but my personal experience is that this is an entrancing screamo album and that blends post-rock into an almost melodic masterpiece.  I love every song on this album, and no amount of 4,5, or 6 out of 10 reviews are going to change my mind.  Download it and give it a listen, don't ignore "Atheist's Cornea" because the reviews make it sound like something you should pass on when I personally believe this is a must have for fans of Envy and fans for the progression of screamo.

Sun Club - The Dongo Durango (2015)

Genre: Indie / Post-Rock / Pop
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: The Beach Boys fucking Animal Collective and making a beautiful deformity
Track List:
- Glob
- Summer Feet
- Worm City
- Carnival Dough
- Beauty Meat
- Language Juice
- The Dongo Durango
- Cheeba Swiftkick
- Puppy Gumgum
- Dress Like Mothers
- Tropicoller Lease

Description:
Well, well, well.  It's about damn time I get to put up some Baltimore based music (FYI that is my hometown) that actually gets my gears going.  The Sun Club creates a theorem, similar to a mathematical one but it goes something like Surf Rock + Pop + Post Rock = Fun in the Sun...Club.  I would strongly insist that after you give these guys a listen you purchase some of their stuff, it really is one of the catchiest albums I have ever listened to.  Make sure you turn off shuffle so that you can thoroughly enjoy the full experience of one song melting into another, flawlessly embracing each other like a mother and her newborn child, then watch as the umbilical cord gets bitten off in bloody fashion as the album ends and you're left wondering why you didn't just restart from the beginning before the last second ended.  Whatever, just give it a listen and support these dudes.
