Boyscott - Goose Bumps (2015)

Genre: Lo-Fi / Surf Rock / Indie
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Beach Fossils, Best Coast, Wavves
Track List:
- Sleepwalk
- Blonde Blood
- Nova Scotia 500
- Marco Polo
- Sinking Down
- R.I.P. Sophie Moore
- Killer Whale
- Lake House
- Embarrassingly Enough
- Sleepaway

Description:
Boyscott is a surf rock band coming out of Nashville, Tennessee that has peaked my interest far more than I expected.  I don't listen to surf rock, with the exception being the Beach Boys.  That's it.  It just isn't my cup of tea, as most of it seemed way too slow for my liking.  That is absolutely not the case with Boyscott and their latest LP, Goose Bumps.  Goose Bumps blends their songs between dual vocalists and unique instrumentation to bring one of the best albums I've ever heard to life.  Marco Polo being one of my favorite songs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to, based purely on the fact that the instrumentation is crazy fun to hear.  I can't really find too much information on them, but apparently they are on tour right now so if you can figure out where they will be playing I would recommend that you check them out.

Description:
Pill Friends is a four-piece lo-fi emo, pop, noise rock, indie, whatever band from Philadelphia who make some very interesting music.  Like no bullshit, you will hear almost every instrument while listening to this album at one point or another.  Okay, that's not true, but within the first minute I was listening to a badass harmonica.  But I'm gonna keep it fairly short, if you dig the likes of Teen Suicide and Alex G you will get into this, and you will get into it hard.  Real hard.  Hard as fuck.  Enjoy.

Japanese Breakfast - Psychopomp (2016)

Genre: Experimental / Indie / Pop
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Porches, Mitski, Krill
Track List:
- In Heaven
- The Woman That Loves You
- Rugged Country
- Everybody Wants to Love You
- Psychopomp
- Jane Cum
- Heft
- Moon on the Bath
- Triple 7

Description:
Michelle Zauner, who you may know from Little Big League has outdone herself and her peers.  Musically, this is the single greatest thing I have heard involving her.  A truly emotional roller coaster that leaves you speechless during the journey, and nearly breathless by the destination.  An album dedicated to her mother, you almost expect what would be coming.  Japanese Breakfast proves that the only thing you should expect is the unexpected.  This is the soundtrack to mourning, every song taking you further and further into the life of the lost, but at the end shines a light that is less overbearing and more welcoming than anything.  Japanese Breakfast's "Psychopomp" is the front runner for album of the year for me, and even though we are only in February, I can't imagine this leaving my top 5 for the year anytime soon.  Please check them out, and purchase whatever you can to support them.

Porches - Pool (2016)

Genre: Lo-Fi / Indie / Pop
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: LVL UP, Pile, Eskimeaux
Track List:
- Underwater
- Braid
- Be Apart
- Mood
- Hour
- Even the Shadow
- Pool
- Glow
- Car
- Shaver
- Shape
- Security

Description:
Lot's and lot's of synthesizers and guitar pop that sounds like it could be the soundtrack for when you are lucid dreaming and acid tripping simultaneously.  Is that even possible?  Guess I'll have to find out to see if their is any truth to my description of Porches new LP, "Pool".  Every song on here sounds like a continuation of the previous one, and it could go on and on for an eternity and I wouldn't be mad.  It's too relaxing to get mad.  If you just want to chill out and listen to your dreams be recited back to you via music, then give this a download and enjoy your nap.

Nudes - Nudes (2015)

Genre: Lo-Fi / Indie / Emo
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Sonic Youth, Husker Du, Rites of Springs
Track List:
- Our Headache Years
- Drive Straight for the Black Hole
- The Dig
- Clarity
- Constant Summer
- Even With Broken Bones
- Promise You Won't Move Too Close
- Talk to Me in American

Description:
Nudes are a scrappy, shouty indie / emo band out of London who will sort of remind you of Husker Du.  Formed from members and ex-members of Saturdays Kids, Playlounge, and Breathe Out, it looks like they all finally found the sound they are looking for in their self-titled debut.  If you're anything like me, Nudes will produce a different sound then you are used to listening to on a daily basis.  So if anything, give them a chance just for that reason, if not for the fact that they are catchy as fuck.

Slanted - Desire For Lust (2016)

Genre: Indie / Lo-Fi / Alternative
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Mitski, Diarrhea Planet, Colleen Green
Track List:
- Man
- Santa Fe
- Happiness
- Golden Child
- My Universe

Description:
The generosity that comes with allowing fans of music to freely download and listen to your creations is truly a magnificent thing to behold.  It's even more magnificent when you are rewarded for being rewarded, do you know what I mean?  It's like when someone gives you the directions to a treasure chest and when you finally reach the X it has been unscathed and untouched for thousands of years allowing you to reap the benefits of the gentleman who gave you the map in the first place.  The proverbial gentleman in this case is Slanted, the map is their website, and the treasure is one download away.  I rarely get into this kind of music, but you can't deny what these guys are doing for the genre.  My personal favorite is "My Universe" which just put me in a dream like, euphoric, state of mind.  I can see any fans of this blog zoning out to Slanted for many years to come, and I would appreciate you giving them the attention that they deserve.  Enjoy!
