Cold Heart Days - Demo 2015 (2015)

Genre: Punk / Emo
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music, The Draft
Track List:
- Intro
- The West
- This song we used to love
- Dorian Gray
- Missed Opportunities
- Dear X, ...
- Wearin' Black

Description:
Cold Heart Days is an emo punk rock band from Caen, France who play some music that you most certainly want to get into as soon as possible.  After the guitar driven intro and half way through The West I started hearing where a lot of their influences stem from such as Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker.  What I found most interesting while giving their demo a listen was the Rites of Spring vibe I was getting as well, and it was an absolute treat.  The 90s aspect is definitely predominant in their debut release but it's modernized to the point where it sounds brand new and like nothing you have ever heard before.  I can tell you that the lead singer reminds me of if Polar Bear Club sang Hot Water Music songs, and I can dig that real hard.  Unfortunately I couldn't upload the demo to Zippyshare because it is over 200MB (1411kbps) so I will link the bands free download on their Bandcamp page.  The sound is super crisp, and the production is literally flawless and it doesn't hurt that the band is phenomenal at what they do.  Enjoy!

Shonen Bat - Until Forever, On It Goes (2015)

For Fans Of: The Van Pelt, Nai Harvest, Ulises Lima
Track List:
- down for life
- pugile
- 99,999
- broken
- shame
- what for
- carbon-copy dreams
- no cure
- bad character

Description:
Shonen bat is a 3 piece emo band from Malaga, Spain.  I had to go back for a second and re-type that because I typed everything in lowercase letters.  Thanks a lot, Shonen Bat (which is also supposed to be lower case but I DON'T CARE).  Anyway, these guys rule and have been out quality stuff for almost 5 years now and I think they have gone criminally unknown and are too under appreciated.  Citing influences such as Karate, The Van Pelt, June of 44, and Owls you can kind of get a grasp on where they are coming from musically.  If anything, they pulled their name from Paranoia Agent, so how can you not dig that?  Enjoy!

Description:
Hey alright, so as you can see I'm taking it a little bit slower now and apart from me posting random shit that I enjoy, 99% of the time I will only be posting new releases and certain requests.  Anyway, Movements is a super catchy post-hardcore band from California, USA that tour with bands like Balance and Composure all the time.  So if you are into this kind of stuff, then I suggest trying to go to one of their live shows because they are probably bomb as fuck.

Turnover - Humblest Pleasures EP (2016)

Genre: Pop Punk / Emo
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Citizen, Title Fight, Knuckle Puck
Track List:
- Humblest Pleasures
- Change Irreversible

Description:
I'll be real here for a second and totally admit that I never listened to these guys before and just kind of downloaded this on a whim.  Most websites classify them as pop punk and I'm sure their previous releases have reflected that and I'm going to even assume they resembled The Story So Far and Title Fight.  More so Title Fight because TF has experimented and changed their sound from typical pop punk to a more emo vibe and Humblest Pleasures is eerily similar to that.  Maybe I'm wrong though, I'll have to check out their other releases.  Either way, these are two really chill songs and I suggest checking them out.

- Brickwork
- Driveway Birthday
- Burger Drop
- Brain Food
- Swear Jar (again)
- Get A Clue
- Moon Wanderer
- Kabuki
- Crows Feet
- Leona
- Cut You Up
- Sunbaby

Description:
Don't mind the for fans of too much, because the debut album from Milk Teeth titled Vile Child brings you everything from Sonic Youth to, well, Moose Blood!  It's essentially what you would hear if a 90's alternative rock band traveled through time and missed the late 90s and 00s and ended up landing here in 2016 with some dope ass punky alternative rock.  You can hear some Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins influences in various songs as well, and the dual vocals have always been a soft spot for me.  But yeah, I've been waiting to give this a listen and it's truly magnificent.

Track List:
- Son
- Cruel Matriarch
- Sore Sickness
- Bonnie Broom
- True Love
- Baton Ye Hauld In Yer Paw
- Cooling Board
- Daughter
- Anima Sola
- Shot Once

Description:
Soul Structure is a quaint little emo band out of Nottingham, UK that sort of reminds you of what Snowing might be doing if they didn't stop doing what they were doing.  Sometimes you get that End of a Year / Self Defense Family vibe as well.  I guess that's accurate enough.  I don't need to please you people!  I have yet to check out their first release, but after listening to True Love it's almost a guarantee that I'm going to dig it.  More or less of the same stuff you would expect from a band of this genre, but I think the appeal is the sort of anthem moments in certain songs and the way the vocals completely separate themselves from the instrumentation.  One of the few emo bands that actually wants us to hear the words and brings top notch production along with it.  Check it out, let me know what you think.

- Spinnaker
- Shadow Shade
- Clear And Cold
- Very Much Alive

Description:
Since I posted the predecessor to Algernon Cadwallader with Halfway to Holland, I think I should post the band that succeeded them, Business Models.  Business Models is made up of members from two of some of my favorite bands around, one obviously being Algernon Cadwallader and the other being the lesser known Ape Up!  It's also made up from members of Man Without Plan, but I've honestly never given them (or him?) a listen but I might have to if a member is included in this dope lineup.  So if you are interested in hearing what Halfway to Holland might have become over the years, give this a listen.

- A Constant State of Disrepair
- I Still Can't Sleep

Description:
Mimisiku is a relatively new group only forming in 2014 and easily making big strides in the music world already.  In the small emo collective or what have you, Mimisiku's LP, The Thrill of Living is a pretty large topic of conversation so I decided to check it out for myself.  The verdict?  I don't know, I haven't finished listening to it yet.  I'm about 3/4 into the album and so far it's amazing, just pure energetic punky emo that others have said it reminds them of early Alkaline Trio?  Sure, I guess.  I get more of a Braid vibe, like it sounds like Jimmy Eat World if anything.  Anyway, it's really good and catchy shit so check it out.  CYLS if you're reading this, I am sorry and will take it down immediately.  Just shoot me an email!  Also, click the homepage link to buy the album.

- To Be Frank I'd Have To Be Foley (Demo)
- Leave The Claustrophobia To The Claustrophobians (Demo)

Description:
Halfway to Holland is the pop punk band that eventually became Algernon Cadwallader, so if you like Algernon you will probably fuck with this heavy.  For some reason it became increasingly difficult to find the discography, since every god damn link was dead except one.  But 85mb for some people can be a pain in the ass, and I think a lot of people have the S/T release more than anything so I decided to split it up by release.  I don't know the actual dates for the compilation and unreleased tracks, but they were released with the discography so I assume 2006 would be correct.  Either way, Halfway to Holland was super chill and you should check them out if you haven't already.  For the rest of you that forgot to put them in your itunes or whatever you use? Shame on you, get some nostalgia in your life.

My Head In Clouds - Discography (2009 - 2012)

Genre: Emo / Screamo
Website: Bandcamp
For Fans Of: Merchant Ships, Old Gray, William Bonney
Track List:

Demo! (2009)
- Donut Run
- Hey Arnold

3 Songs (2011)
- Did the Rock Go To Culinary School?
- Mexican Soap Operas
- Theres A Bocephus In My Closet

Unreleased Tracks (2012)
- Dome Talks With Sam Karpp
- Donut Walk
- 260 Gangsta

Description:
First and foremost I don't know the actual release dates of the 3 songs or the unreleased tracks, I just made those up, because (20??) looks weird and I didn't feel like doing that.  So if anyone can give me an actual date for the releases that would be awesome.  My Head In Clouds was a short lived emo / screamo band that ended and never got the chance of reuniting because of the death of their lead singer, Antonio Rodriguez.  I feel like a lot of people missed out on this amazing band, and they are truly a staple in the emo and screamo genre.  MHIC will truly be missed.  Make sure you check them out.

Midwest Pen Pals - Inside Jokes EP (Remastered) (2014)

Genre: Emo / Screamo / Punk

Track List:
- Leaving Songs
- Bobby Markos Posi Talk
- My Castle, Your Castle
- Austin's House
- Because He's There, and He Hates me
- Movies Like Juno
- A Kick Ass Life

Description:
So first and foremost I am a huge fan of MPP, Merchant Ships, William Bonney, and pretty much anything remotely associated and affiliated with these dudes.  They always put out the best music.  Anyway, this is a leaked remaster of their 2009 EP, Inside Jokes.  I guess this was going to be put out, and then it didn't, so someone said fuck it and released it anyway?  1411kbps, whatever that means.  Either way, the quality is blatantly better and they even added a new song, A Kick Ass Life.  So if you're one of the people that didn't hear about this, like me, get into this now.  Also, the d/l file is like 140mb, so, yeah.

- Room Full of People
- You Won't Stay
- Alright, I'll Wait
- Bitter Medicine
- Lifted from the Current

Description:
Somos is an alternative pop punk band from Boston, Massachusetts.  First Day Back is their sophomore album, and most certainly in the running for album of the year already.  Meshing together a 90s emo revival vibe and the instrumentation of waning guitars really draws out the pop punk-esque tunes that were more familiar in the debut album.  They've also done splits with other contemporaries such as Sorority Noise and Have Mercy, so you should check those out as well if you dig this.  Enjoy!

- The Void
- Culture, Inc.
- Violence House
- Jokes
- Melbourne Cup
- 9 Thermidor
- Back to the Void
- Hell Screens
- 10 Thermidor

Description:
Shinobu is an indie rock band from San Jose, California.  Members of Shinobu also play in bands like Bomb the Music Industry! and Classics of Love with are both pretty damn good bands.  These guys tour with Xiu Xiu and Andrew Jackson Jihad all of the time, so I guess they are in the same range as those guys.  Shinobu's 10 Thermidor is a great album, but I can't really speak on the rest of their material.  It seems like they classify themselves as an Indie Punk band but I really don't get that vibe on this album, I get more of an Indie and emo vibe from this release with a lot of alternative rock influences backing it up.  That being said, Jokes is pretty punk, and it's their best song on the album.  Anyway, if you haven't heard this yet then give it a download.

Description:
First of let me start by saying that the vinyl record for Party On has one of the coolest designs I have ever seen.  I absolutely fucking love it.  As for the record itself? It's awesome.  Big Awesome is the truest form of emo revival and at it's best for sure.  Party On is extremely guitar driven, and favors instrumentation in general but the vocals are really just an added bonus.  Lot's of super funky basslines and dope melodic hooks really drew me in.  Overall, Party On is a super catchy album that deserves your attention.

Description:
Already so I really need to start organizing my top 10 of 2016 list, because there is way too much good shit coming out at an alarming rate and Sioux Falls latest LP, Rot Forever, is apart of that.  What is better than a regular 10 track album with every song being a gem? A 16 track album with every song being a gem.  That was a rhetorical question.  Fans of Pinegrove will find a home listening to Sioux Falls, but while their styles are similar you can still find something new in each of them.  Lo-Fi indie rock albums with a lot of post punk and emo influences seem to be really, really popular these last few years and you won't catch me complaining one bit.  So check 'em out and show them some love if you enjoy their craft.  I'm just typing now to pass time while this 150mb album uploads to my mediafire account, so yeah.  Yup.  Any day now.  Aaaannndddd, it's done.  Have fun!
